Service Offering
We offer a Basic ECD Skills Training Course (similar to the old Levels 1,2 and 3) to childcare workers working in day care centres who do not meet the formal training educational criteria or who feel they want to gain practical knowledge before embarking on formal training.
The course is practical and hands-on requiring a high degree of practical implementation of the skills learnt in the workshops.
The course is sponsored, but participants contribute a portion in fees. This makes the course affordable for lowly paid workers.
Participants must be working in a day care centre.
The course consists of 12 workshops conducted over 6 months on alternate Saturdays (8:30 — 14:30).
The participants make a number of good quality teaching resources and tools.
The participants are provided with a starter pack of art materials and some tools to continue making their own resources and implement tasks.
The participants are required to implement the methodologies they are taught and use the resources made during the course.
The facilitators visit the centres twice during the course: once to provide support and assist where necessary, and then again at the end of the course to assess and evaluate the levels of implementation, in order to award a certificate.
By the end of the course the practitioners show a marked increase in self confidence and many are inspired to create their own innovative learning materials and resources.
We find that the centres that work on these new ideas run more smoothly and many come close to being able to reach the compliance standards required by the Department of Social Development.

Help us create a solid future through our children!
The future of our country relies on the maturity and skills of our children.
But most of these children do not have access to quality early childhood development and will struggle throughout their schooling and advanced academic opportunities.
Your small donation can make a difference right now!
